This washstand has been refinished in light blue chalk paint (AS), distressed and coated with clear wax. The top has been stained dark walnut and coated with poly. Sometimes I get comments from people about painting over good wood. Actually, if my Grandpa was still alive, I think he would be one of those people. He loved wood. But to be honest, very rarely do I ever think we should not be painting the piece we are working on. This washstand is one of those pieces. It looks amazing now that it's blue. Before it was just an old washstand. Not anymore! It has way more character and charm to it now that it's painted and distressed.
