This cabinet has been refinished in antique white and grey/blue, distressed and coated with poly. It's finally summer vacation here!!! We are super excited that this week is over. The last day of school has come and gone, our little adventure to Canada's Wonderland is over(I enjoyed being shot up into the air 300 ft in a slingshot with my partner in crime!), and we endured our first day of work with our kids home and we survived! Summer is going to be great. We will be taking a little break for a few days, so don't be alarmed if you don't see any action on the blog...we will be back...we promise...there's still lots to paint in our storage shed. 

Check out this piece that we did this week.  I LOVE this piece. I am so glad we finally got around to doing this one. Aileen is too because now we have more room in our storage shed! I love the grey blue colour on the inside. I love that it has glass doors. I love all the storage it has. I love that you can use this in your kitchen for extra storage, or you can use it in your family room for storage. Either way, I really do love it!

Find the Time Dresser

This dresser has been refinished in French Linen chalk paint, distressed and coated with clear wax. I love, love. love this dresser. The bowfront lines, the legs, the new hardware(good choice Aileen!) and the french linen colour. Now I feel like I have to paint the one of the dressers in my room this colour...like I have time for that! I have three desks for my daughters that need refinishing, I have three bedrooms to paint(because I am too lazy to scrub the walls) and I have work to do. It's like the landscapers house that never gets landscaped, or the builder's house that never gets all the way finished. I hope I will find the time this summer, but there are only so many weeks in one summer, and we have beaches to go to, pools to hang out at, family to visit, friends to chill with and lots of lazing around to do!

This hutch has been refinished in Pure White chalk paint, distressed and coated with clear wax. You think this piece looks amazing on these pictures? You really need to come and see it in person. I will tell you, my arm was a little tired after distressing this one. It was totally worth the pain even though  my one bicep is much bigger and more muscular than the other one! Next time I distress something, I am going to have to use the other hand! Anyways, back to the piece. It's even more beautiful up close and personal!

Not for Cute Little Girls Chairs

These chairs have been  refinished in Pure White chalk paint (AS), distressed and coated with clear wax. Aileen's poor little girl wanted to sit on these this morning. "Mama, chairs! Chairs!" But Mama wouldn't let her. No dirty little hands were allowed to touch these before we could snap pictures of them. Cute little girls need to sit in their high chairs where their sticky waffle fingers can't touch these beauties! It's hard to see in the pictures, but they turned out amazing! There is the perfect crackling effect on them. They have a true vintage feel about them. And they look amazing with our teal table that we painted this week. You might want to take a look at that too!

Getting Serious Cabinet

This antique cabinet has been refinished in Paris grey chalk paint (AS), distressed and coated with clear wax. Here's a favourite of the week. We,(read Aileen's husband), had to fix this little cabinet up to get it customer worthy. We had to put in a shelf and fix the back to make it look perfect. And perfect it is. It's special and unique and definitely one of a kind. It's a sweet little find and we hope someone really nice buys this piece. Maybe we will need a questionnaire filled out and applications made to find a potential buyer. Things are getting serious at Better Than New. Just kidding, just email us...that'll be enough.

Small Packages Dresser

This dresser has been refinished in antique white, distressed and coated with poly.  Good things come in small packages, or so I am told. I should tell you about the time I got a really small gift from my husband back when we were dating. He came over to visit me one weekend(we lived in different cities...well, he lived in the city, I lived out in the middle of nowhere). At the end of the weekend he gave me a tiny little gift. Tiny, as in jewelry box tiny. I was super excited! I was thinking, seriously, he is giving me a ring! Already??? When I opened the box, you can imagine the look on my face when I saw that the box was... EMPTY! Can you believe it? What a pest! I do believe I punched him in the shoulder for that one. Anyways, this dresser is the perfect little dresser. No tricks, no gimmicks, just the simple truth!
